my grandad is currently in our local hospice with a estimate of one week left to live and the hospice are being absolutley amazing, they deserve every penny they get but they dont get enough! im wanting to run a show of some kind next year to raise money for them, i am good friends/ used to work for someone who owns a competition center so im hoping to sort something out there but i need ideas of what to do.
throw your ideas at me!

Dressage to Music
Accumulator Show Jumping
Sponsored Bareback Show Jumping
Gymkhana Games
Fancy Dress
Chase Me Charlie
Fun Classes - Horse with the best tail, horse most like it's owner, etc

gymkhana games work well someone held a games day at my local village and they did really well plus 90% were over 16 who took part most were adults and they loved the chance to mess around for the day.

thank you for your ideas guys, im thinking of doing an evening thing with a raffle and maybe get some of the top showjumpers in our area down and do some sort of gala showjumping, dressage and maybe get the local pony clubs in. and then next summer when im off work and uni do a day show of some sort. make it a fun evening for everyone, and i just got another idea off the telly, dog agility :D

Some fab ideas there China!
Pleasure rides can be good money raisers too if you can get some local farmers on your side to open up some land and tracks. Then add a raffle at the start point and a bbq for the finish - you could raise a fair amount.
Sorry to hear about your grandad - I'm sure he is really proud of you:)

I did a charity trek in Italy over 5 days for the British Heart Foundation. My biggest money raiser was a quiz night. I raised £900!

It was held in the local school, I offered chilli/Jacket potato supper and bottles of wine to the winning table (all donated)

You could do similar by holding a quiz night and inviting local livery yards/vets/competition centres etc to put forward a team.

Get all of your prizes donated for a raffle. Could raise a great amount :)

Good luck :)

A race night? that always seems to bring in money.. so you run videos of various low key races?

Sorry about your Grandad as well. I hope you have told him how you intend to honour his memory and brilliant that you are bringing something positive out of this as well - it must be really tough.
