After finding thrush deep in the collateral groove tonight, I've been researching what products would be best to use on it. BUT some websites say thrush is a fungal infection & others says its bacteria!
So which is it??

Isnt it either or both.

Ahh perhaps it is both.
What I did was scrub with salt water, get rid of all the nasty blank gunk, spray with vetericyn. And I packed it with hoof stuff to stop more muck getting in it as its gone pretty deep hidden under his frog slightly.
Not sure now I should have packed it if it needs oxygen to get rid of it.
Could get some field paste but isn't that preventing oxygen to it aswell?
I've also got Terramycin spray I could use on it but there are so many remedies suggested!

It is both, both organisims can cause it and so alternating treatments is necessary if one doesn't work.

Not sure what it is but...

I got a spray called frog-health, and this cleared it within a couple of days :)
All I did was pick out her hoof (get rid of mud but not digging at the black stuff) and spray it all over her frog and sole.

Definately fungal. However you can get secondary bacterial infections on top of the original thrush.
The conditions that support thrush will also support anaerobic bacteria. Both are controlled with good hygiene and changing the environment.

Our boy gets thrush every winter due to his annoying habit of pooing then stepping back into it  The best thing we've found to cure it is kevin bacon hoof stuff- not the big pot thats a greenish colour, but theres a little red pot with a white screw-top lid, and inside its liquid and coppery in colour (and it stinks!) Its quite expensive but it really works- we were recommended it by a friend years ago. We then use a general spray like the frog health to keep it at bay!
