hello, I'm hoping someone may be able to shed some light onto this.
I'm just about to turn our little shettie out for the summer.
I was picking out his hooves today and noticed a sticky black tarry substance coming from the deep cleft of the side of the frog. It doesnt smell particularly offensive, and is just a tiny tiny amount.
I assumed it could be thrush, so cleaned the hoof and put purple spray on.
I'm now wondering if it IS thrush, or could it be something else? He HAS to go out this weekend so wantt o ensure that I'm doing the right thing.
He wouldnt strike me as a candidate for thrush, he has shallow little hooves, kept very clean and mucked out fully daily.
Any ideas or advice would be welcome. He has no other signs of anything, no lameness, no heat.
