Just had a barefoot trimmer out to my pony and he says he’s got thrush, he suggested cleantrax, the problem is it’s quite expensive and just wondered if there was a cheaper option? before I go out and purchase, of course if it’s the best thing for him I’ll foot the bill

You could do an iodine soak, make up some sugardine (iodine mixed with sugar to make a paste and shoved into every cranny) or use Milton (1 part milton to 10 parts water). Cleantrax does work well though.

I have used Cleantrax a couple of times, and it is in fact cost effective as it generally only takes one treatment! You do have to follow the instructions though as once made, the solution soon loses its effectiveness.

It depends how deep/bad/persistant it is. If it is then cleantrax is a good start.

My go tos are red horse sole cleanse and pack with hoof stuff but never had a very deep sulcus to be treating.

try soaking and/or scrubbing (with a small washing up brush) with a 1% povidine iodine solution and then (but need to get it from vet) some terramycin spray.

and I'll expect I will get gasps of horror but I've been using Gold Label Frog Oil Spray with excellent results.
