Thunderbrook or Agrobs

Hi those who feed
Thunderbrook hay cobs
Agrobs mash
Agrobs weisencobs or flakes
Do you recommend it? If so which one would be your choice and why?
What’s the soaking time? I’ve looked on websites but some don’t say or say hours to soak
I currently don’t have access to hot water at the yard(well I do but it is a hassle).
Also can you prepare a small batch and pre soak?

I’ve been advised to switch my pony to one if those instead of fast fibre so I’m doing the research. Pony had grade 4 ulcers few years ago and although seems fine he does have hind gut discomfort in season changes.

I simply wouldn't use TB, there are several threads on here explaining why. We use Agrobs Weisencobs dampened with cold water although we do have hot water available. They take up the water quite well in a short time. If you want an actual mash, I would think 15 min s would be ample time

I’d never use weisencobs again after a dry one caused my pony to need colic surgery. Not worth the risk. It was fed by hand by a livery. So technically I’ve never fed them! Thunderbrooks meadow nuts seem to break up quickly in cold water. A friend feeds her boy these.

I’d never use weisencobs again after a dry one caused my pony to need colic surgery. Not worth the risk. It was fed by hand by a livery. So technically I’ve never fed them! Thunderbrooks meadow nuts seem to break up quickly in cold water. A friend feeds her boy these.

I have had a mild case of choke after feeding Weisencobd dry, that is why we always dampen them. Otherwise greedy cob would just inhale them and choke again. I do use individual dry Cobs as treats though with no problem.

Baileys Natural Meadow Cobs are harvested from perennial meadows, growing in the foothills of the Bavarian Pre-Alps, in southern Germany, contain an appetising blend of up to 60 different species of naturally occurring meadow grasses, wildflowers and herbs, and are high in fibre, yet low in sugars, starch and calories as the plants have been left to mature before cutting. Coarsely chopped and high-temperature dried and pressed into chunky cobs

Always, always feed cobs pre soaked. Don’t use them dry for treats. I soak them 12 hours in advance prepped for the next feed time.

Wouldn’t touch anything Thunderbrooks with a bargepole.

I feed Baileys fibre nuggets as treats as it's easier to get them in 20kg sacks - they look like the following picture. I can't tell from a google whether they are the same as the baileys cobs, the last thing I want is a colic risk!! That being said I am a year in with no problem so far

Baileys natural meadow cobs loose - excuse the blue fingers, guess who has just used blue spray without putting gloves on .





Then these meadow cobs have been soaked already for about 3 hours, and are probably ok to feed now, but won’t be fed til tonight’s evening feed. They keep well for 12 hours even in hot weather when covered up and in the feed room out of the sun.

And thanks @Tiddlypom - they are quite different in makeup it looks like, the fibre nuggets are tighter packed and more milled fibre (I can't find the words I want to use this morning but you get my drift!)

I've fed Agrobs wiesencobs for the last 5 years. 20 mins to mush, though I soak the night before for breakfast and use A&P Veteran light for dinners

Agrobs for me. Tried the Baileys but my three didn't like them as much and would leave it. I wouldn't buy Thunderbrooks for lots of reasons. Getting Agrobs is not easy but I find I can order on line, several bags at a time.
