Does anyone have experience of a dog with tic borne infection?
I have a 3 and a half year old lurcher. For the last 10 months the lymph nodes on her back legs have been swollen, they are now really enormous. She has had two episodes of being quite unwell - depressed, lethargic and losing weight. She has had blood tests, biopsies of the lymph nodes and her abdomen has been scanned and chest X-rayed. The bloods and biopsy pointed to malignant cells but cancer has pretty well been ruled out. Further blood tests have ruled out an auto immune cause. Her case was sent to a referral vet and a specialist in the US but no definite diagnosis. Both times she has been unwell in desperation vet has prescribed antibiotics and she has responded to these.
Possible cause now being considered is a tic borne infection, but they can't test for it until she is actually unwell and the infection (if it is there) is active. Has anyone got any experience of dealing with this?
