I moved my horses to a new yard in November, only 4 miles from my old yard but the field has a section which is rough hill ground with gorse and heather - and of course they love that bit! However for the first time in 30 years of horse ownership I'm finding myself having to take ticks off my horses every night, 9 is the most from the mare so far as they appear to like her best!
Anyone any ideas on a control treatment? I had a mare badly burnt a few years ago when the vet threw Deosect over her so I'm not desperately keen to use that if there is another option!

On robinsons, they do a spray called tick control or tick off or something, I noticed it when I was looking through there "lotions and potions" I think it's about £20 I'm not sure it it's any good. I know how u feel though, my mare has only had 3 ticks so far but I had to take one of my horse and another horse today there horrible little things!

hi i have this problem too after moving at christmas, never before for me either its awful. one of my mares seems to get more poor old dear has such a sore tummy where they are really going to work to her.

tomorrow i am going to clip her legs and tummy - just to help me spot any on her. then bath her, coat her in diluted deosect and have also bought some power phazer too to try, am willing to try anything as its a horrid problem!

good luck
