Tick.....in March!

I know we have had a few warmer sunny days, but I really don't expect to find ticks on my horses this early in the year!

I do find the occasional one in high summer, as we have deer and game birds in the fields, but have never found a medium sized one this early before....and given that he is turned out in an all weather paddock at the moment...how the hell did he manage to find one?

...but there it was nestled between his cheek bones with a small lump of reaction under it, easily visible as he is fully clipped...and also easily removed intact with a tick hook!

I got a tick off the cat during that week in feb where it was -5.

I pulled the first one off the dog a month ago. First sign of spring around here is not a cookoo. :/

...horrid things....thought they were supposed to be cold blooded, not so active at minus 5 !!
