Ticks all over my poor horse!

My poor boy has been well and truly attacked by lots of tiny ticks all over his legs and a few on the rest of his body. He is in a field with long grassy areas which is where I think he is picking them up.
I want something that will help repell these horrible things as he is getting very sore. I thought about putting vaseline or liquid paraffin on his legs to stop them getting a grip and biting? Any other ideas as its not just the odd one?

You can buy spray that smells like a nuclear bomb, but its meant to work wonders. Think its in a white bottle with blue writing?

No idea but if you just go to a saddler they'll help you.

Poor horse,
Vets recommend Frontline spray to keep them away, and if they have only just arrived you can spary them and they fall off. My pony had one on his nose and it couldn't get off fast enough when I sprayed it.
You can also get a special tick getter offer called otom (www.otom.com).

You could try pig oil? I'd think the little blighters would have a job latching onto that horrible greasy stuff.
