I found tick this morning and everyone on yard said smother with vaseline ,since reading up this eve looks like I have been given wrong advice. Theres no way he will allow me to fiddle about its close to area where he had bad laceration and although I can groom he wont allow me to use any tools due to having stitches etc bit further down the leg.Any suggestions please :rolleyes3:

You could try a tick remover but if he won't let you fiddle then I guess you have two choices, put something on it or let it do it's thing and drop out itself in due course. My doc recommended the Vaseline thing for my son. I questioned it as I had heard it regurgitates its tummy doing tha but he said it was fine. We have a lot of them in the spring here and one day my mare came in with hundreds in her muzzle. There was no way I could remove them from there no matter how patient sh was so I smothered her in neem oil and the next day they had all dropped out. Could try that?

We have Lyme disease in our area and I have had it myself so I would give the vet a call (they shouldn't charge you for advice over the phone). They will be able to tell you whether Lyme disease is prevalent in your area, advise how to get it off and also what adverse reactions to look out for.
