Ticks

Hi, my horses are getting covered in ticks, mainly on the face, very small ones. Is there anything you can use to help prevent them? Been rubbing their noses in vasaline. Also feeding garlic.

Not sure if you can get anything to prevent them, but an O'Tom tick remover brilliant for getting them off!

Coopers fly repellent kills them. It would possibly stop them landing in the first place.

a tick remover from the vets will be the best thing to get rid! Try applying tea tree oil mixed in water on her face has a repellant!

Try vaseline, it suffocates them, doesn't work so well on long coats as its real hard to properly cover them.

Ive got a problem with ticks on my dog at the mo and ive just been told nail varnish gets rid of them, havent tried it on the horses yet though. But if all else fails with the vaseline...

Some parasiticides are effective against ticks (i know frontline in dogs protects dogs for 1 month) - ask your vet.
