I have found a tick on my rotties side. I gave it a direct hit of of frontline hoping it would take the hint and die but no it's still there. I have done the same to scabby cat can when he had a line of them on his earlobe and it worked then !
Any other ideas on how to remove the offending beastie without leaving bits of it attached and without my rottie really taking the hump. She been poked and prodded once to often by the vet and now thinks we are out to get her....

Tick hook! They cost a few quid from the vets and are very effective and easy to use.

I am sure I read somewhere that a dab of nail varnish will make them die and drop off ? They breath through their skin and the varnish stops them breathing.

They make an odd 'click' sound though

I've got a tick picker (wire loop with plastic handle) and it's brilliant. Just slide it over the tick and give a sharp pull and out it comes, head, mouth, the lot. I then put a bit of savlon on the wound and its all sorted.
