Ticks

either with tweezers but be careful as you can end up leaving the head in the skin or smother it in vaseline - this will suffocate it and the whole thing will drop off

its hard to say... some ticks drink blood to a certain size then drop off... but saying that if it gets too big it migh irritate his eye. id wait and see if it drop of.. otherwise you may have to just pull it. it will hurt him a little.

vasoline my dogs get them sometimes horrible wee buggers

You can either get it with a pair of tweezers, twist and pull at the same time r you can leave it for a while until it becomes bulbous. It will then come away very easily. Just make sure that when you pop it, you dont do it anywhere near ya carpets!

Please try not to pull the tick off unless you are very confident doing so. If you have nails then get them in very close to skin level and a sharp pull and twist at same time. My point being that if you leave the head in you may end up with an even bigger problem.

Vaseline would be my best bet...

u can also put alcohol on it, whiskey or something strong. it will literally get drunk and then fall off. best way is to prevent them in the first place by regularly using a flea and tick treatment from the vet. dont be tempted by cheap supermarket ones, they rarely work. trust me, i'm a dog groomer.

Tick tweezers i find are the best! Especially designed and take all of the tick of! Don't know what i would do without them!

We Frontline our dog (which is supposed to kill ticks) buthe still gets laods of them, tweezers are best option and defo twist as pulling off otherwise you leave the head in (i think the head must come out eventually) disgusting things.. a quick slam with a house brick after usally kills the buggers...Eeeewww... By the way they can attach to horses too so if you take your dog to the stables..beware

My horse had one once, rang vet they said to put vasaline on it, i'd already put vodka, someone suggested a lit cigarette is very good, but I couldn't do that cos of vodka, would have had a bbq'd horse

Vasaline worked, as my horse is sensible I'd go for cigarette next time, bit dodgy on dog though esp near eye
