Ticks !

I'm fostering a whippet ,she was a stray and has over 20 ticks removed by the vet once caught

These ticks hav left crusty / scabs n bumps under her coat

She on ABs to help but is there anything else I could put on them as they look sore or will they go eventually
 
You could try Aloe vera gel or some other mild ointment/salve with antiseptic and skin-softening traits.
I've tried different ointments sometimes and they can help with the crust and outer stuff, but I've never felt that it helped with the bump that they can get after some tick bites, those bumps sometimes just seems to remain for ages (they haven't really, but it feels that way).



Ouch, I feel itchy just reading about having over 20 tick bites. *shudders* Hope all goes well with your foster dog.

Aloe Vera is a good idea as it will soothe and help crusts to lift. In my experience it take s long time for the lumps to disappear and with having a v short coat they are more obvious on a whippet. Just keep a close eye for any signs of Lyme disease as this is spred by ticks
 
We got a greyhound in with (hundreds) literally his body was ravaged with them:(, we used advantix and then I bathed him weekly in a mix of alternative epi soothe and tea tree shampoo and blow dried to get all the dead skin and sluff the ticks had caused to blast it all out.

Also she may hav got hives
Gonna try piriton for a few days

She's vet tender when u stroke her ,altho she has crusty lumps from tick bites she also got raised lumps felt under her coat
She's not itching but occasionally bites at them

Her coat is a little dull n thinker but hopefully will soon get a shine
I'm giving her dorwest herbs keepers mix ( I had half a tub left ) n thought this may help

She's fed mainly on redmills tracker with meat n fish etc added ..I feed raw n bones if n when I can

I've never had skin problems with my whippets

Also she has been front lined the same time as the ticks were removed
