Tie back/hob day operation...advice please

Tried posting in tack room.. No replies ! Is there anyone who has had this done for their horse? Am being referred to leahurst for assessment and scoping, (or to Nantwich vets) I would like to know how successful it is, does the horse recover quickly, will it help his stamina, as he runs out of energy quickly at the moment, I bought him knowing about his problem (laryngeal paralysis ) so I will be paying for it myself.
He is a big horse, and I am hoping it can be done standing sedation as his is not a severe case. He is fit and well at the moment, just runs out of puff!!!

J is tied back at one side .
He's completely normal to use .
We are careful about dust and feed very clean food no dusty forage ever but we do that anyway .
He's feed off the ground and turned out every day in winter and out in summer .
You do sometimes see a little gunk in his water and when he gets his head down after a long journey .
He would do any normal sport horse job whether it would affect him at the very highest level I don't know .
In J's case it's likely it was a roultine procedure done in training his wind issue is actually with his soft palate it's likely it was mistaken for whistling happily his outgrown that issue as he's matured .
Tied back horses can get food/ dust down their wind pipe easier than non tied back horses so are more liable to wind infections this has not been the case with J so far.

Thank you, that's interesting, we already do dust free routine, and feed from floor... Dodge the flying feed buckets!!! Cos Dublin throws them at you when they are empty!!! Talked to my vet today, and he will need to refer us to leahurst, but if I go to Nantwich vets, he does not need to refer, and he won't be upset if we go there.. My friend has her horse treated there and says they are excellent.
