I use them for my boy, I can't tie him to bailer twine as even if he leans slightly it breaks and he knows that too well. Bungees are better than tying to the ring as they break if there is a real panic, which has been proved when the other 17hh on my yard managed to break it when the car got too close for her liking!

My youngster quickly got the idea that if he pulled backwards the bungee would release and he could go for a wander. Not the sort of lesson I wanted him to learn.

He never tried it tied to baler twine though.

We used a bike inner tube to tie them up to, amazing how much they'll stretch. Sorted out the pony who broke bailer twine for a past time.

Hate them with a vengeance. Some wally tied a horse of mine to one once, something happened, horse pulled back, bungee snapped and flicked back almost taking her eye out. I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole.

As always, each to their own.

I bought one for my loan horse when I first got him, but he does have a tendency to pull back (he's getting a lot better though) and he broke it, it actually snapped rather than coming apart like its meant to. So I don't think they work that well, and haven't bought another one since, its cheaper to use baling twine and it does the job!

I use them in the trailer for my horse because he goes in with no partition (is too long and has to travel diagonally) and it works well.

Tried one for tie up on yard as he refuses to tie up and pulls back until feels headcollar tighten and then panics and breaks everything, twine, inner tubes, headcollars...we don't tie up anymore was getting expensive!
