i get so miffed when i see stories of animal cruelty and cant believe that even when a person has been found guilty they seem to get off the hook so lightly. If it had been a human that had been beaten or mistreated there are countless charges and punishments why is there not the same kind of system in place to punish those who treat animals so badly

just get so anoyed how the offenders just get a slap on the wrist small fine and told that they cant have animals for a set period of time and most either ignore this totally or when their time runs out they go and buy more and then re offend .

Socknsblaze don't apologise for punctuation errors, or grammar or typos etc etc. It's an open forum and granted no personal remarks or swearing or text talk should be tolerated, not everyone can be as perfect as me when typing HAHA!!

I agree totally about the weakness of our animal cruelty laws. Does anyone watch Animal Planet channel and see the US equivalent? In New York, I think, The inspectors are part of the police force, so they're armed and properly intimidating. I like the Texas ones best. Something reassuring about big Texans in hats! Seriously (although I'm sure they show us the best bits on TV) they seem to have no difficulty with the judge giving a seizure warrant, and with subsequent conviction. Anyone in the US care to tell us what it's really like?

'Thats life unfortunately'??

A bit flippant?
Unfortunately its that attitude/reponse that means nothing ever changes and we should never accept that.Thank goodness there are people on this planet who have more passion.

That's a bit harsh.

Do you have to be so judgemental? It is humanity's inability to consider the feelings of horses that causes this problem...and you are demonstrating exactly that unfeeling response to poor Donkeymad.
frown.gif

Can't you empathise with other people at all?
Perhaps Donkeymad, in her own way, works to further the welfare of horses....but doesn't feel the need to self publicise her good deeds in order to be lauded by HHO members?
Just a thought....

I am sure donkeymad is more than able to reply for herself.

It was not a personal attack on her, lets be honest now. I posted my opinion thats all, which i do not feel was personally offensive. I do not set out to be rude in any of my posts, i am more considerate than that.

The way i see it is if you are going to post on a subject where emotions run high then a little thought should go into replies. Unfortunately ,to me, that remark came over as flippant and i didnt agree, as simple as that.

If donkeymad does charity work then that is applaudable.

oh, Shilasdair wasnt you part of the group who -on the thread that was taken off by admin, who told me daughter not to'breed' because she has autism! Pratice what you preach please.

No, I didn't know your daughter has autism. I have worked with people with autism/Aspergers etc. They can breed if they want to (but not til they are over 16 and can provide for resulting sproglets, thank you!) You are mistaking me for someone else.

Agreed!

And let's not imply dishonesty in others

It should be the recipient, not the sender who decidedes whether something offends.

This is your perception of yourself.

And you are entitled to read it as flippant and to disagree. Just as I am entitled to disagree with YOU

Laudable? I don't believe applaudable is a word...although maybe it should be

I think you'll agree, Blueberry, that not everyone who works for horses welfare advertises the fact. And there are many ways to further the cause of equine welfare.

Or is it impossible for you and I to agree at all?

I don't have a gripe with you or anyone personally.
I

applaudable - worthy of high praise; "applaudable efforts to save the environment"; "a commendable sense of purpose"; "laudable motives of improving housing conditions"; "a significant and praiseworthy increase in computer intelligence"

Now....back to work

Now I can only find 'applaudable' in American online dictionaries...it is not in the OED...although 'laudable' is.
Anyone know?
