My horse is going into my vets practices hospital unit next week for another infusion of Tildren as his insurance claim is due to run out in the next few months and the vet said it might be a good idea to repeat it. He may also have repeat hock injections (he has bone spavin). He is going in for 9am in the morning, am I okay to feed him his breakfast and haylage prior to him arriving at the clinic? I can't remember from last time he had Tildren whether food has to be witheld prior to Tildren administration - I know it does for four hours following, but I am leaving him at the clinic for the day due to the side effects of the drug so they will no doubt deal with that. How long does the horse have to stay in for following Tildren treatment? How long does it have to stay in if hock injections - I thought he may be ok to go out the next day? I am worried as he is very prone to spasmodic colic and reintroducing him to the paddock when he has not been in it for a few days is a nightmare. Can anyone advise please as I feel a bit stupid ringing up my vet.
