Well the poor girly spent the whole day at the vets

She is now home and very traumatised at having had a ga, not had me with her, been caged etc etc.... she hasn't coped well with it at all bless her!
Anyway its good news, no tumours, no disc degeneration, no bone chips=no ops needed! And we can all stop worrying that the next pain attack will leave her paralysed. The only thing they could find was further down her spine behind her shoulder blades where she has some odd new bone growth on the spine, like its been injured and is repairing itself.
The vet thinks we are best just treating the attacks with pain relief (metacam and tramadol) when they occur. They are unlikely to get more severe, more prolonged or more frequent.
He thinks this last attack was probably brought on by holding her neck in an odd position for a long time last monday when she saved Bernie (I havn't told his owner this as she would feel really bad!)
So generally nothing serious to panic about, thank god for that!

Glad it is nothing serious. I tempted fate by saying Buffy was doing really well on the cartrophen. Was out for a couple of hours last night and came in to a very distressed girl, hiding in a corner, panting and hunched up. I thought she looked a bit bloated as well so quick call to the vet who met me at surgery. Poor girl just lay there in vets looking miserable, quick check of tummy showed nothing nasty, just holding herself awkwardly, temperature and colour all okay. He thought it was probably a spasm in her back (hasn't had one for over 12 months) and the fact she wasn't crying as she usually does with this was due to the cartrophen lowering the pain. She had a metacam jab and brought her home about 11 pm. I stayed up for a couple of hours till she settled and this morning she seemed a lot better. Went back just for a check up and she had bloods taken in case it was one of her other problems causing it, all okay with bloods so just fingers crossed she stays comfy tonight.
Next time I'll keep my big mouth shut.
