Very sad news, he died of congestive heart failure.

He was only 55.

I'd just read this news elsewhere. Knew he'd had health problems in recent times so not totally shocked though much saddened.

He was a fine rider, and seemed to be a very nice guy. I understand that his ex-wife Michelle (McEvoy) remained fond of him.

I remember when he was selected to represent GBR in LA Olympics in '84....at the time he was relatively unknown in Britain, being based in the states as he was.
