Anyone else go to the TS lecture demo at Hadlow College last night ?

I thought Tim delivered a humorous yet informative rendition of his well rehearsed 'Gospel according to Stockdale'

He has a certain style that brings SJ'ing to the masses and cuts out all the pretentious cr@p that often accompanies equestrianism. Good for him

Shame it was so bloomin' cold...and an even bigger shame that some people felt they couldn't spare an extra few minutes at the end of the evening to wait while Tim answered questions...very rude I thought

I went!!

Thought it was excellent...

Im going to use his technique on my rising 4yo and see what happens. Luckily enough he is a blank canvas so wont have to "change" any other ways of going..

Bit gutted that i didnt win the chance to go to his place though.

Yep, I was there and wholeheartedly agree that it was rude of some people to just up and leave while he was talking. It was almost as if they were saying, well we've taken what we want from you, paid our money but don't feel the need to extend a little courtesy as a thank you.

It was the first time I have ever seen him do anything other than compete and I certainly took a lot from it and poor Dougal is not going to know the word trot for a while. I definitely am guilty of the nagging leg just to keep him in one pace.

It was absolutely freezing though, I swear it was colder in the school than it was outside.

I totally agree it was so rude!!

I was freezing it took me till i got home with the heating on in the car to warm up.

Now i just have to work out how im going to get munkey to canter from walk....???

Any ideas

Rocket up bum? That's what my lad will need.

I will therefore require vast quantities of superglue on mine to keep me on board. Canter will not be his first thought it will be buck like a thing posessed.

Hiya, I went to his demo at the ILPH last week, and there were people there wanting to leave before he'd finished, but I think he managed to rein them in (no pun intended).

He did go into his "world according to Tim Stockdale" mode, but hey, he is one of our most successful showjumpers; from a non horsey family who got where he is by hardwork and aptitiude, so I find what he has to say quite insightful. I thought he demystified some of the aspects of show jumping training, although I'm sure he only scratched the surface of what a top flight team really does.

Haha...I'm very lucky in that Bo is already tuned in to walk to canter, canter to walk transitions....we hardly ever trot and certainly never canter to trot....it's too much like hard work

I also like the fact that I no longer need to try and remember fancy names for things we do on the flat....we either go forwards...or sideways

I'm sure a sharp pair of spurs will get your horse listenning initially...and perhaps when you're done with them you could send them to Tim as his groom has obviously lost his
tongue.gif
I didn't fancy being in her shoes last night when they had seemingly been ommitted from his kit bag

Ha ha neither do i lol!!

Im going to get a pair as i no longer own some they went missing...

We went to a school today for the first time and i very nearly came off as he started spooking and rearing.

once he settled we did get some sideways movement which was nice

That would be me! I probably saw most of you there, had I known, I would have said hello! I'm glad you had a great night, it makes all the stress involved in putting it on worthwhile to hear positive comments! x
