My pony doesnt have back shoes on and is wearing away her toes into squares also she seems to be verge hugging at the moment too.

now im wondering whether to have back shoes put on. she has had no shoes on her back hooves for about a year and a half but they never seem to grow much and seem to get smaller and smaller!! would anything make them grow quicker?

she gets ridden at least 5days a week with 2 long hacks and alot of road work.

so time of year or time to shoe?

I'd get some hoof boots for longer more demanding hacks. Then she can have all the benefits of barefoot but protection when she needs it.

If she's squaring the toes I would be tempted to have a physio/chiro take a look at her as it may be she is sore somewhere? Especially as this sounds like a more recent thing.

i just had my boys shoes put back on after about 8 months without due to him being on box rest, his wee feet were getting sore as the ground was hardening up and he was out more. id say if you think she needs them then do it.
