I have been trying to find a rider for my second pony Digby and the amount of time wasters i have had! They are driving me mad!! I have spoken to ALL of them on the phone and they all seem so genuine!! We arange a time and they never turn up! Im going loopy!! Why can't i find a nice little girl or small adult to ride Digby?! He is the perfect pony! PUSH BUTTON/JUMPER/HAPPY HACKER/QUIET/CHEEKY/PRETTY JUST PLAIN PERFECT i spoke to someone on tuesday who sounded perfect, they said they would ring me back weds to arrange a day to come and see him no phone call..i sent a text..but have just written them off as a timewaster!

Has anyone else had this trying to sell/loan there horse?!

If you read all of this i will give you digby for free :)

He is a lovely pony!!! Its so frustrating!! My daughter would LOVE him! I am almost giving one of my horses away and cant seem to get anyone genuine :(

I know its awfull!! how can people ring you up and just basically lie.. i couldn't :( haha i have heard that people just turn up to have a ride and have no intention of buying/loaning luckly i havent had that but now i have said that. That will be the next thing ;)

He looks sweet. I know someone wanting a full loan which obv he is not.

Will just say your ad is not very clear how many days etc someone could loan him....?

Or is he for sale/ full loan? I'm confused by it!

I think its rather rude of you to be in shropshire! Have you tried notices in places people with horses go like feed & tack shops & big yards? Or local pony club. Just what I'd want for my daughter in a few years.

Have edited it :) its just for someone to come and ride/groom him for me

Want someone to come and treat him like there own but he has to stay with his friends unless the people who loaned him were close enough i could come and see him (make sure they havent sold him ;) )

Rude? :( Yep got loads of them all over the place but have only had one person phone from them and they never turned up :(

Meant it joking, you should live closer to me lol, don't actually mean you're rude! Any good local riding schools? They may have someone who's had one before & is inbetween ponies.

Know what you mean about timewasters OP.

I offered mine for loan last year and was just overwhelmed with people who were hellbent on wasting my time; including one (obviously disturbed) individual who made an appointment to come and view, then let me down at the last minute for a trivial reason; THEN expected me to make time for her the next day!!! THEN when I said no she got all daft and psycho and was repeatedly e-mailing me and ringing my mobile and leaving messages and crying and begging me to let her have my horse and stuff!! Absolutely absurd. As if anyone would let their horse go to someone like that.

Then there were people who basically wanted to come out and try him and bring a friend and go off on their own; all they were after was a free ride at my expense!

Until you've been in that situation, you just can't believe how inconsiderate, rude, and downright fruitloop people can be!!!

Aww Digby looks like such a cutie! Unfortunately I'm at least 5'11 so think I may be a little big for him! (And I don't live anywhere near you  )

I know what you mean about time wasting, only from the other perspective! I was desperately looking for a horse to loan last summer but couldn't find anything that was actually suitable...I even went and tried one horse who was a complete nutter and would have been dangerous if a novice had tried it (despite being advertised as a sane, sensible horse!)

I hope you find someone soon, it sounds like a great opportunity to a keen child/teenager :)

I feel your pain. We've been looking for a loan pony since Sept, and the amount of times I've enquired about an ad only to have no response at all is astonishing. However the few we have managed to go and see,I have always rung before we have left to confirm we are en route and arrived on time.

We've been let down by loaners changing their mind at the last minute twice so far-the last one rang the night before we were due to collect the pony to say that someone else had been to see him after we'd all agreed and made arrangements and that they'd taken him instead.Cue me having to explain it all to two very tearful children.

They sound like a complete nutta!! i hope i don't encounter anyone like that!! Eekk how awfull!

I'm worried about all the people i have spoken too and told all about Digs and where he lives, so my new plan is to direct them so far and then get them to ring me when there close :)

Thats horrible! What a mean thing to do! We went to see a car the one day and it was about 1 hours drive we were five mins away when we rang to say we were close he said he had sold it! :( :)

Diggy wont mind ;) you could live in the field with him :) Gosh i went to see a pony when i was looking for Digerby and it bolted with me round the arena with its head in the air and was aiming for the fence so i bailed :D You can't lie when your selling horses , its shocking how many people do though just to get the cash!

Aww, I'd loan him but I live too far away :( hope you get someone genuine soon.

Me too you would think id have hundreds of kids jumping at the chance! and the ponies live in a lovely spot. We had someone just after christmas and she used to turn up with her daughter in high heels and leather trousers to a field....and her daughter would be so clean it just wasn't right ;) i used to feel embarresed covered in mud and hay with no make up on and have model wannbies turning upp ;)

so sorry to hear that peopler are messing you about - i am seeing it from the other side - i am desperastely looking for a loan horse - i leave polite responses to adverts & generally people dont even get back to me - i have no issues if people dont like the sound of me, but it would be nice if they could at least respond :)

Thats really bad people are really rude sometimes, i was reading another thread a minute ago about a rude rider and theres loads of them by us and i just think its not hard to just say thank you or reply a quite message if your not interested.
i check my adverts - on the internet - everyday and i get so excited if i have a message :(

Ha! Interesting choice of foot wear for a yard :p I gave up with my appearance on the yard :P I always look scruffy and like a hay stack! Must say though I love it, wish I could have a horse of my own, hoping to do a full loan in the next few years. I'm sure you'll get someone soon seems like a lovely pony to me, there must be a little girl somewhere who'd jump at the chance!:)

Yes those were my thoughts exactly..me too i love going into shops in my jods and seeing other horsey people and smilling thinking i know i have horses too ;) the other day i practicaly ran out the house with my saddle so i could show the horse rider going past our drive that i had a pony too .. i am very sad ;D

hopefully i will find someone soon otherwise im going to have to start riding him again :)

These people live all over the country. I am trying to rent some grazing out and am rapidly coming to the conclusion that it would be a easier to have sheep! If I hear the words, 'I'll ring you...' One did ring, the day before she wanted to bring them and was surprised when I didn't expect her as I had not spoken to her for 3 weeks and no firm arrangements had been made.

Hahaha I'm glad other people do that kind of thing too!

Hope you find a good person to loan him he looks like a sweetie! I wish I was little enough to ride ponies, I think I've been 5'11 since I can remember! Even in my first riding lessons I rode the bigguns!

Having much the same bother, had small pony returned by loaners as they wanted a bigger one so advertised him straight away. Have spent hours replying to messages, one person sent loads of messages, asked to view last Sunday, text at last minute to rearrange for Monday, then again cancelled and rearranged for Wednesday by which I was thankful I didn't hear anything more from them. Also had someone else that wanted to come Sunday that never came. So frustrating!! Have now arranged for someone that has kids who are small enough to ride him to sell him for me.
