I understand timewasters are attached to selling horses - and its a pain in the bum.
BUT timewasters when selling a saddle - REALLY????

Its advertised on H&H, Tackquest and saddles direct -

So far i have sold it 3 times - never to recieve the money and then have numerous excuses as to why.

Have had 17 scam emails.

And, had a lady SCREAM down the phone at me when i 'nastily' refused to send her the saddle to 'try' without paying for it first.

*cries*

All i want is to sell it so i can get one that fits my youngster.

Rant over!

The older I get, the less I understand people. I am trying desperately to sell a pony who MUST go, so far I have had no replies to any ads so I have tried replying to wanted ads, of which there have been several for such a pony . . . . . do I even get the courtesy of an acknowledgement or a "thanks, but no thanks" . . . . nope. So why advertise then???? PEOPLE!!!!

Put it in one of your local tack sales, we sold 3 saddles this way and you know that they will get sold at the sale, fo a good price aswell. I'm sure there's one in Somerset but the Leominster monthly horse and pony sales also has a tack sale, this is where we sell all our tack, you can put a reserve on it aswell if you don't want it going to cheap.

Tell me about it!! I am selling 2 brand new Stubben bridles. One caller asked if I could take them to bits and take close up photos of each bit, front and back!

I ended up taking my saddle to the tack shop and got a good deal selling it directly to them - got a good price for it too. They also offered to sell it fo rme and take 15% commission but I just took the money cause they were offering me £400 for it and I needed the cash to pay for his new Thorowgood T4 dressage saddle :)

Phone around your tack shops and see if they will buy it from you :)

eta - I wouldnt sell a saddle through Saddles Direct - thats a ridiculous amount of commission to ask for.

YES OUCH!!!

Its a Lemetex Stylist jumping saddle, black, medium fit and 17".

Saddles direct offered me £550 for it - but with commission that was under £350 for me!
Im not asking £550 for it - and have included postage with the price but i seem to attract nuters!

Ive tried my local tack shops - no one is taking anymore in as they cant sell what they have!
I tried part exing it but was offered peanuts for it where i tried - despit them telling me how much they would market it for....

Just tried SD again - as a part ex, but the saddle im interested in are all out on trial!

I just want a saddle that fits my baby! (damn him for growing!)

My saddlery said I could have sold my saddle for around £570 - they would take 15% commission if they sold it for me leaving me with £480 - I offered to sell it to her straight away for £400 and she took it, so Im out of pocket £80 possibly but I got the money there and then and didnt have the hassle of posting a saddle so a win win :)

awww - shame (sorry cross posted) - have you tried ebay?

I must have done something wrong with my advert then, ive got 3 ads, Horsequest, Saddles direct & H&H free ad - so far not even one phone call :o

Ive tried our local tack shops who offered stupid money to take it off my hands, despite being told what a beautiful saddle in such good condition excellently looked after.

Hope you sell it soon.
