I have a problem I’ve never had before. A skinny pony. Mine have always been fatties or normal.
We have a plan in place for getting more condition on him but roughly how long (given the time of year) should I expect it to take a pony to go from a condition score 1 to a trim 3/put about 45kg on?
For context 16 years old, on half a prascend a day, living out 24/7 on good grazing with a slight hill

About 8 to 16 weeks I would think.
I'd aim for improvement by end January but not expect the full detail of what you hope to achieve till around April.
Steady regular increasing exercise (even just in hand) after 3 weeks or so will help with muscle build up, which I suspect might be lacking too if a skinny one?

That’s useful thanks, wasn’t sure how patient I need to be!
Definitley no muscle at all, I’m hoping it being gentley hilly will help with that.
We can do some gentle walks though other than the driveway there’s not really anywhere to go.
Ironically he needs to gain almost what the other one needs to lose, other one has put 15kg on in the last month - still muzzled and not fed and literally living on fresh air ?
Luckily for skinny one the grass here is still good and growing so that should help.

I've just waved one off to his new home after 8 weeks here to chill out after racing, and put on some weight. He was very thin indeed when he arrived, and left yesterday still a little underweight, but much improved. I'd say he has put on about 40kg, and although he has a way to go, he no longer looks like a welfare case! He has been on ad lib haylage and 3 feeds a day - focusing on every mouthful making a difference, rather than adding bulk!

It really depends on how well the Prascend is controlling the PPID I would have thought. This was the problem I had with my old horse, he could not have grass but had at lib haylage, micronised linseed and low NSC soaked grass nuts. How long it should take may not be how long it takes with a Cushings affected horse.
