WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!

I found (what i thought) was the perfect loan horse, advert sounded divine: 6yo 16hh wb competing at prelim/novice dressage looking for a 5* competing home. Horse is able to be moved and has just started jumping.

Perfect.

I contacted owner- she said she was away for 3 weeks so if i was still interested contact her after this. Dutifully, 3 weeks later i contacted her again which took a few tries until i made contact but we arranged to meet up.
Unfortunately my dog was 70 miles away on the day of meeting and my day overran so i apologised and asked to make it the following day.. all arranged, no problems.

That morning i get a text saying she is busy now and busy all week so i ask if she wants to rearrange or.. 'yes' she says, 'text me on the weekend' FAB i think..

friday arrives and i try and contact her again.. im unable to get hold of her on the phone so send a text. Nothing. I send another. Nothing.
Odd.. i try again this morning. Nothing. I give it one more shot this afternoon.. Nothing.

:( Why!

Do people not realise that there are genuine loaners out there wanting to provide good homes and that people feel rather let down when it all comes to nothing.

I would give up EquestrianFairy the thought of entering into a contract with this kind of person would have me worried! Your perfect pony is out there somewhere!!!

I've been thinking this the last couple of weeks too.

I put a wanted ad in my local free ads papers etc asking for a loan pony etc.

Had 2 people reply, horses sounded EXACTLY what I am looking for so emailed back saying great, give me your number and i will call you. No, it's OK I have your number and will call you.

Have been waiting 3 weeks for one person to call back and 1 week for the other. Numerous emails from me saying I am still really interested etc but no replies.

Why bother contacting someone if you aren't going to call them or let them come see your horse??

I hate timewasters, I was trying to loan/sell my mare for ages at a low price for her quality, and had numerous emails and phone calls with people leading me on to think they wanted ehr and arranging visits and then cancelling at last minuite, eventually managed to get her onto loan on a working livery (for experienced people) but they've decided they dont need her anymore and shes coming home monday, so im giving up and excepting the fact that I'll just have to keep her, but she is a sweetie so I dont mind too much :P even if my bank balance minds!

Please don't give up hope of finding a pony, but I would move on from the lady that hasn't got back to you as I would be over cautious of having a horse from someone like that to be honest.

WD- maybe she is hacked off but I had waited 3 weeks for her so I did feel that if she was miffed I cancelled she should have been aware of the time I waited also.

I have given up now, I sent a message saying I was disappointed at the way this had been handled and wished her luck finding what she wanted (although inside I was grrrhhhhhh-ing)

Agh!!!

I'm not sticking up for the woman, it's just what people are like when loaning out and not being paid for selling their horse . . . . . it is the most likely reason in this case and you will defo get messed about a lot more when loaning and not buying I'm afriad.

Don't give up, I am sure something will come along.
I have been loaning for just over a year. I got messed around when I was looking - horse sounded pretty much perfect, lots of chats with the owner. After she cancelled last minute on me twice, I gave up on her. Why not just say that you've changed your mind rather than lead people on (I should say that she replied to my ad, it's not like I replied to her).
If people contacted me, and I wasn't interested, it wasn't the easiest thing to have to say I wasn't interested in their horse, but I always did - in a nice way - as I didn't want to lead people on and say I was interested when I wasn't just to avoid a potentially awkward conversation.
Thankfully it turned out for the best as I ended up finding just the perfect horse for me .... on here of all places!!

Oh - good on you for emailing her back by the way - she should know that she hasn't handled things well; even if she was hacked off, there is no excuse for bad manners!!

Don't give up honestly it took me a almost a year to get my lad now, that was just through word of mouth, why don't you call some local farriers they go to loads of yards so may know of something.

Keep your chin up though, I also had to go through all the timewasters advertising their horses as good for this great for that, and when I go to see said horses, they are nothing like they say... at all :( but this is all part of the elimination process..... but do keep looking etc promise one will come along when you least expect it.
