What exactly do they do? Is going to see a horse, finding it alright but deciding you dont want to buy (and having not made any promises!) then not ringing back time wasting?
If you arrange to view a horse, then change your mind a couple of days before the viewing and cancel, is that timewasting?

If that was always the case that'd be great. I have known people who fancied a day riding new horses and would use for sale ads as a way of getting free rides with no intention of buying anything.

I think timewasting is, for example if you ring and say you're coming to view a horse, arrange time, place etc and not turn up (without a good reason) or come and see a horse maybe more than once and then say you like it but you can't afford it.

if you have been to see a horse and think ok, it's nice but is just not for me then, providing you ring and tell the seller thanks but no thanks I don't think that is time wasting. Basically in my opinion providing you always let a seller know what you're doing or why you feel it's maybe not for you etc then you're not a timewaster.

You're not going to like every horse you see or, if you're seeing more than one or two in a week you may arrange viewings but find the one you want before another arranged viewing.

Hmm, does my reply make sense??!

I don't think so, though it would be polite to ring the owner and just say, thanks, but she/he is not the horse for us, and good luck. Cancelling a few days before is fine; but we had several people who simply didn't turn up, or rang an hour or so before, and that's not

people just do it for the ride? thats very unfair on owners!

so timewasting is essentially making some kind of commitment to the owner of the horse and letting them down?

I have probably been considered a time waster before now. But if i like a horse but its not for me i will always ring and tell the seller. However if the horse is not as described i wont bother. I have also got off a horse within 5 minutes and said it is not for me. i think the seller appreciated it, in a way, but i felt bad!!! I do know that some people go off at weekends for a free ride though.

I think if you meet a horse and it's not for you and you call and tell the owner that's fair enough. I'm getting pee'd off with people calling, saying they'll come and meet Ty and then not ringing again. Just say if you're not interested!

TBH I think you have to take it with a pinch of salt until they say they will come and view. The thing that would annoy me is if they make an appointment and dont turn up. That is just rude. I would never dream of doing that.

Yeah I guess so - just annoying really. Think it's because if I liked the look and sound of a horse, nothing would stop me going to view it....although I am known for being impulsive!

I think I would rather have someone make an appointment and not turn up to view than have a viewer ride my horse really badly. (If I had one obviously)

Tbh we had some nightmares with my old horse; people turning up a couple of hours late so the poor lad had been standing in and getting stale on a hot summers day, people who wanted a completely different horse to the one we had, people who would ring, arrange to view, and then cancel on the day for half hearted reasons or just not bother turning up entirely. People that came several times and then decided against it, people that couldn't accept we wouldn't do trials... it was hard work. But it was worth it. As long as people are honest with you from the outset and don't visit etc out of duty, then that's fine. But people who have no intention of buying the horse shouldn't come and look. Simple as.

I had the best timewaster recently - she wanted to see P, was super efficient with the email comms we had, wanted to come ASAP so we arranged the next morning at 9am (v early as she had to come from Milton Keynes area, but each to their own)....I waited, and waited and waited and nothing, no text, no call, just a no show. She had been adamant she wanted a quick viewing as she wanted a horse to take to camp.

Got an email that evening saying that the reason she hadn't come is that her cat was run over at 7.30am (which made me roar, you cannot do MK to mine in 90mins during rush hour!) and that she was too upset to talk about it - I answered fine, please let me know when you would like to come - nothing, she has NEVER emailed me back. I am still fuming!
