Finally suffered at the hands of a total timewaster :(

A guy was due to come and see our broodmare on Saturday - he was supposed to be in the area to visit one of his horses in training and was bringing a box (it was pretty much a done deal). He rang a fortnight ago to arrange the day, and then rang again the middle of last week to confirm the day and the time he'd be arriving. He was travelling three hours, hence the forward planning. He's also been pestering my dad for months about buying the mare, to which the reply has always been 'then come and see her'.

I rushed home from work Friday night to spruce the old girl up a bit (and say my goodbye, didn't want to cry in front of the potential new owner). On Saturday both my girls were turned out with the plan being to bring them in just before the guy was due to arrive. I cooked lunch early so that would be out of the way too.

The due time of arrival passed; my dad rang the guy's number only to be told by the woman who answered that she'd never heard of him (although had the same accent), tried ringing the yard where the guy's horse was to see if he had arrived there and was held up - no answer there. Two hours later I decided my girls weren't being shut in on the nicest day of the year so far for no reason so out they went again.

I was away that night and all day yesterday but when I got home I asked if the guy had been in touch to apologise for not making it, but surprise surprise he hadn't.

Now I appreciate that for people selling riding horses, more work goes in to then be wasted by people not showing up. But I still went out of my way to get things sorted (getting all the mud off her, rugs etc to go with her) before his arrival. I was annoyed and disappointed that he felt it was alright to waste my time like that. Luckily this weekend was one of my quietest weekends since the start of the year, so I didn't have to take time off work or anything, but still...grrrr

Rant over!

What a nob!
Obviously did nt have the guts to ring and cancel......blokes are like that though.
Ever been in the situation where you know you are about to get dumped and end up dumping them to save them the embarasssment?

How annoying :(

I had a seller cancel when I was about 40 minutes into about a 2 hours journey! That was infuriating

One guy was so desperate for me to dump him (rather than him be the 'dumper') that he sent me a fake text that was meant for a girl that he had supposedly spent the night before with (he hadn't), thanking her for such a great time. I was like 'yeh, so....don't come and see me when you get back from Essex...'

If this guy didn't want to buy the horse, that's totally fine with me! I'm not fussed on selling her, she's a great lawnmower and generally nice to have around! He should have just said

Yep I had one of those too! All arranged to call at mine on her way from seeing another one. Just didn't show :( no call, text or anything & wouldn't return my calls.

i've a saddle for sale and this wife has been emailing and ringing saying a few times she wants to come see it or will i courier it to her, yes fine i say. I send her more photos and she disappears for a week without even saying' i got the pics thanks', yesterday she rings me again wanting to come see it and she says 'oh what size is it again' I tell her 17.5 inch 'oh thats too big' . WHAT? ??? Its only a £100 saddle as well!

Trust me, its worst when you're the middle man.

I've had clients contacting me to sell their horses, I go out, make a movie, actively market them and finally find someone who might be interested. Then all of a sudden the owner decides they're not selling after all because turns out their horse is the best equine that ever lived...! Ahrrrr!

Ive wasted my afternoon today waiting for someone who never turned up, it only takes a quick text these days to say you are held up or cant make it, so no excuse for not letting people know really.

I had this the other day only selling a pair of boots but woman never turned up, messaged me a few days later to see if we could rearrange now she has transport! Erm no, not after wasting my Saturday afternoon! Total rudeness
