Another exciting weekend for the NH season is upon us!

Tomorrow from Sandown is the first day of the Tingle Creek meeting with the Winter Novices Hurdle (G2) and the Esher Novices Chase (G2). I’m particularly looking forward to seeing Resplendent Grey in the chase.

Then Saturday is onto the Henry VIII Novice Chase (G1) and another grey I’m looking forward to seeing L’Eau du Sud. Then onto the Tingle Creek (G1) and Jonbon is back against Edwardstone and his other rivals from the Shloer Chase in November. At the moment there haven’t been any NRs so 🤞🏻 we get the whole field on Saturday.

Plus there is also the Becher Chase at Aintree - Arizona Cardinal who won the Topham is running and the consistent Iron Bridge is having his first try over the national fences.

Also a Grade 2 Novice Hurdle at Navan, with The Yellow Clay going for three wins in a row after winning a Grade 3 last time out.

There’s some excellent flat racing over in Sha Tin, Hong Kong on Sunday. There are British and Irish raiders over there training in preparation.

For the Sprint, Ka Ying Rising is unbeaten in his last 7 starts and has only ever finished 1st or 2nd. The American horse Nobals (he’s a gelding 🤣) is a NR due to a temperature when he arrived into Hong Kong.

Liberty Island, the Triple Tiara winner in her native Japan looks an exciting entry into the Hong Kong Cup. She was the favourite in the Tenno Sho back in October but only finished 13/15. There are several British and Irish horses in the race including; Spirit Dancer, The Foxes, Content and Wingspan.

I'm not sure Aintree at least will go ahead the forecast is awful and not sure it will be safe to travel

I’m thinking that as well although I imagine quite a few horses would be travelling up today and staying overnight.

Looking at the going report, it’s already soft (heavy in places) so it’s likely to be much heavier going tomorrow - they’re due 5mm rain today and then up to 12mm throughout the day tomorrow.

Latest from Sandown as well

I'm not that far from Sandown and my hourly forecast on weather . com for tomorrow shows winds around 25mph so I'm hoping that at least Sandown goes ahead. Whether the horses/jockeys/trainers can get there from certain locations is another thing entirely.

I also doubt Aintree will go ahead which is a shame.

I very much hope Romantic Warrior wins the Hong Kong Cup - what a horse

Optimistic that as they’re willing to hold out until tomorrow morning that it’ll go ahead 🤞🏼. But I’m probably being naïve 🥲.

Decided not to go to Sandown, the inspection at 7:30am was passed, but they’re conducting another at 9:30am.

I can’t see that it’ll go ahead with forecast of 5mm of rain, plus wind between 50 - 60mph. A number of horses have declared as non-runners, too - either due to going or travel.
