Was doing "jumping flatwork" on William today and got him doing 2 time flying changes

, got about 3 in a row before it was all too much and we just got the flying bit with legs going randomly all over the shop! Naughty I know, should be concentrating on his not-great basics, but thought I'd ask and see

. He does do lovely changes, and 9 times out of 10 does them perfectly. Such a shame we can't do tests in our hackamore + snaffle double bridle and jumping saddle

. Sorry, very self-indulgent, but OH doesn't quite appreciate significance of it!

!! Think my boy has special needs and just doesn't seem to grasp them, my last horse took to them very quickly!!
Will keep plugging away then and look forward to the day I can write a post like yours!!

Wonderful, and glad you got such fun from doing them..
I don't really think it matters if sometimes you jump ahead a little, if the horse wants to do it and shows a talent, provided you and he understand what you're doing so what..
I enjoyed riding piaffe and passage one Sunday morning on our old stallion, who started doing it off his own bat when a chap suddenly played bagpipes as he went past..I didn't know how to ask him, but boy it felt amazing...

That's what this forum is for! My OH doesn't really understand if I come back from a hack like I did on Sunday when I rode on my own past loads of roadworks and Jerry didn't spook or nap - my OH just says 'that's good then'.
I need to tell someone who understands!
Well done to you - I would love to get Jerry working at that level, that's one of my goals for next year when I can afford some lessons.
