Ooomph being a technical term you understand

Josie is now back in work 6 days a week. Still not going mad or pushing her too hard. Her schooling is fab fab fab couldn't be more pleased with her. Her hacking too has come along a treat. I'm quite happy to take her out on her own now, which for me is a minor miracle. she's really grown up since having baby d.

She is however, feeling a bit sluggish. I try to vary her work so she doesn't get bored poles hacking etc. But schooling especially she's being to drag.

She's currently only fed hi fi lite and vit/mins. She's a very good dooer and is still very rounded. She does heat up on anything remotely conditioning and tends to get quite spooky.

So what could I give her just to give her that little bit extra, without the spooky fizz?

calm and condition and if she does heat up put her on a magnesium calmer, NAF magic can be used for long term but some other calmers are just short term. I use calm and condition on all mine and works great. ride and relax may also be a good one

Lovely to see you back, hun!

Was wondering how you were.

Glad Josie is going well for you now and you're enjoying her again. How is the lovely D, handsome as ever I bet?!

What is she like on a mix? I use Bailey's Economy Mix as a base and Dolly works well on it without any fizz - well she did last time I rode her which was early spring last year; she's been keeping Twiggy company but is due down soon to start work again. she'll probably think I'm an evil old bag!

Or there are things like Ride and Relax but I have never used them so don't know if they work or not, sure someone else will tell you for sure.

I thought Ride n Relax was the answer to my problems but my horse wont touch it! Allen & Page were fantastic when I contacted them for advice, maybe send them an email?

Hmmnm, I had this with hannah a bit before I put her in foal (basically she just got quite lazy and hard work for a while). I put her on TopSpec Balancer as she does the same as Josie and heats up on anything and everything.

The other thing which I felt helped a lot was doing lots of transitions in the school so it never got boring for her (I know you said you do lots to keep her occupied), and the transitions also made her sharper off the leg too. I did lots of walk to trot, trot to halt, halt to walk, walk to halt, halt to trot... never letting her know what was coming next.

I tried her Calm and Condition and never ever ever ever again... had the completelt opposite effect on her

Good luck... nice to hear from you again too!

My lad was given Calm & Condition & it had the reverse effect on him & blew his mind. I changed him onto Ride & Relax, Hifi Lite, handful of Blue Chip & carrots & he's calm & very toned now. He works well, enjoys his schooling & has all the energy we would ever need.

Thankies everyone. Think I'll try the ride and relax to start then. She's not going to need much but def something. My legs are killing me from just trying to get her working a bit more forward last night grrr!

More transitions too I'll try. xxx
