As title says - need ideas as to how I can hide supplements/medication in my horses food, he is such a fussy eater and can smell anything a mile off!

No advice I'm afraid but will watch this post with interest as I have the same problem. Spent a fortune on supplements only for him to turn his nose up and go on hunger strike.

What meds is it? If it's anything which could be added to a bit of water, I'd just syringe it in his mouth if still won't touch anything.

You should be able to get molasses from your feed merchant.

Get him used to it by adding a big dollop of it to water - all ours go potty for molasses water- then mix the supplements to the molasses before mixing it into feed.

Just get small packs of spices such as cinnamon from the supermarket to try it out. Cinnamon is pretty good stuff anyway. Not sure where you would find mint in the sort of quantity you would need. Also grated apple or carrot hides things well, as do marmite sandwiches.

Funnily enough I've just posted about cool calm and collected for my very fussy mare, I've used most of the suggestions above (apart from erins) but to no avail with other supplements. If your desperate you could try mixing it with water in a large syringe and give it orally over the tounge.

You can buy big tubs of mint for horses at most feed shops but if it is powder I would just make a suspension and syringe it in, though this may be a pain in the proverbial if it is a long term one! :)

I would ask the merchant if it comes in any other form, my friend used powder and horse wouldn't touch it, switched to liquid and no probs, though this obviously depends on the supplement. The merchants can often tell you what masks the particular supplement.

I have heard of applejuice, it is safe, though I have only heard of it in water (though obviously if you need to keep sugar low might be worth avoiding! :)

You could try a splash of peppermint cordial? Available in Asda and other supermarkets. I've never known it to fail!

Apple puree/sauce works for some of the more discerning on our yard. You can make your own or buy - and can choose the no added sugar version.
Someone I know also uses jam and uses the diabetic, no sugar one as her horse is lami.
Hope you find one that works.

Apple juice works okay but the best thing I've found since I've been putting supplements in everyday is the xtra strong mints melted in a bit of water and mixed in :) but you could use dried mint etc
