I've got to do Novice 25 in 2 weeks and it arrived in the post this morning. I'm not sure of a movement in it and won't be having a lesson until the day before the test so wondered if anyone would be kind enough to share some tips?
the thing I am unsure about is CM working canter... MXK change rein and over x change of leg through trot ... KB working canter

So how many strides should I be aiming for before picking up the canter on/after X? Can I come back 2-3 strides from X and pick up 2-3 strides after X?

Sounds so easy when you read it out- probably worrying over nothing. Should have said this is our first Novice test

Any tips or advice?
I'd be very grateful

thank you

I rode it so I came back to trot over x and then picked up canter asa I had the right leg lead, balance etc... I suppose if your horse is quite balanced with the transitions asap! Being a mere novice though prob best to wait for other responses!!

i would first practice cantering over the diaganal MXK, and trotting at X and continue to trot...
when you have got the canter to trot transition tidy, start to trot at X then canter again in the corner between K and A. then just gradulally start to shorten the distance between X and K untill is is more or less, trot at X, then pick up the right canter again.

little tip is to not have too much inside bend through the corner, and from M to X...it would help the horses transition if you could bend him to the right over X to enable him to find it easier to be able to canter on the right leg.

*GOOD LUCK!*

Try for about 4 strides of trot, so a few before and a few after X, as they want to see a few true trot strides before you canter again. They will say it was rushed/ not clear enough if you do any less than that!
