Tips for worming please

My horse is an awkward so and so when it comes to worming. He always spits some of it out - there must be a way I can get it down him!!!!!

Can a wormer be put in food?

Got to worm tomorrow and I'm not looking forward to it.

Yeah u can mix it into the feed, depends if your horse will eat his feed with it in! My mare does but my friends mare won't. Good luck .

My two are both quite fussy when it's put in food and will leave any 'suspicious' bits! Try dissolving the wormer in warm water before adding to food. Toothpaste, apple juice, mint leaves and treacle can all be used to mask it.... I don't have a problem if I use one or two of those.

I mix the wormer in both my mares feeds.
It all goes down a treat.

My horse is fussy too, if I put Equest of Parmox in his feed he won't eat it as it is quite sticky. But any of the others he eats no problem.
