Hi,

I have a 2 1/2 year old Weimaraner bitch. we love doing agility and now want to get a 2nd dog, ideally a poodle dog.

My problem is my OH doesn't want a 2nd dog. I look after my dog, do everything with her, walk, Feeds etc

One of the problems I have is, that my dog has separation anxiety and doesn't like being at home alone and think if she has the company of another dog this would also help her.

Any tips on how to persuade the OH would be very gratefully received!!!!

I just got mine, he had little choice though as he'd fallen in love with the first and she him. I got another a few weeks later and even though he tried to complain he couldn't really as the deed was done and the first had now become his.

He was agast though when i told him when i have my own house I'm having more.

Sneak it in as a foster for rescue.....he will fall in love and not want it to go back! Used to be known as the puppy dog close as once you had it, you could not give it up...

I just buy my dogs, he only ha a decision in the latest one we've had. He was scared of dogs before he was with me and now loves our 2. They are his boys apparently

Due to sadly losing our young lab last year, my husband was adamant that he wouldn't have another dog. We have a 10yo Springer bitch, Rusty.
I kept looking at ads for mature dogs thinking that he might allow that. He eventually caved in and we went looking but the choice widened and we've now got Holly (Sprocker,), just 10 weeks old. I have to be the one who gets up early for her etc, but OH now smitten!
What a change in Rusty too! She was getting very lazy and didn't want to do anything. With hindsight she was probably depressed. Now she is so happy and has got a second puppyhood! Rusty will tell Holly when she's gone too far though!

I haven't approached him again yet have been sulking for 2 days.

My house is tidier than it has ever been, was up early doing laundry this morning.

Wonder if its because i want a poodle, thats he's not keen, so might try going down the labradoodle route as he liked my friends.

was thinking a labradoodle that has been crossed with a minature poodle so its not too big, as i really wanted a small dog!

Might try the baby route as he defo doesn't want any more kids!!!

ask him for a better reason than " i dont want to be a 2 dog family"

i wouldnt honestly go against him.......its taken me 12 months to agree to my mum letting me have another dog (already have 1 and wheni move out in a couple of years they come with me)!

worth the wait imo.... i have to wait another 6 months now till i graduate... 18 months lol!!

We have a standard poodle and he is amazing. My husbands friends did joke when he said we had a poodle but he is quite a manly boy bless him. He just has a short clip all over so doesn't look all floofy. You need the right pics to show your OH to convince him they are a 'proper' dog- which I'm happy to provide! Good luck, I have been trying to convince my hubby for dog no 2 but not with much luck....yet!
