Tips on growing a flowing mane, please

Archies mane, when I got him, seemed quite thick but short. Have been growing it on and off since I have had him but it has slowly got longer but a lot thinner. Any tips on how to grow a flowing mane, ideally thick?

Down to genetics, I'm afraid - just like us. I would love to grow hair like Julia Roberts in 'Pretty Woman'. Ain't going to happen! (neither are the legs )

I dont brush manes or tails unless they are washed and clean- otherwise the hair tends to break and split and thin out easily. even when clean i dont over brush or it just pulls the hair out over time, making them thin.

Don't brush through it daily, and plait it so it doesn't get pulled out by trees etc. Helped my fells mane grow.
