Tips please.. settling in new pony

New pony comes tomorrow, and it has been soo long since we have had a new one, that I am nervous about him getting upset about his new surroundings.

I seem to forgotten everything in my worry

So tips please on how to make his transistion an easy one X

the main thing is to keep calm and not get over excited. maybe put him in a stable (if you have one) next to another horse, ie the horse he will be turned out with eventually, for a couple of hours. then into a paddock near other horse, maybe on his own to start off with, then after a couple of days put him in with another horse. probably best to leave him to it wrather then crounding him otr trying to groom him etc.

Thankfully we do have a stable, so he will be going in that.

Luckily the stable is more or less next to my bedroom window, so should be able to hear him.

A good bed,plenty of hay and water.

One tip I was given many years ago is when you put a new horse into a stable don't skip out too quickly as they will settle better once it has their smell.

Thankyou for your replies. I will try them all. I am now feeling quite sick with worry

It was different with my old boy that I recently lost, he was going to be shot, so had nothing to loose, and before that mum and dad had this worry

This pony is much loved by his owners, so I am soo desperate to get it right.
