Hi does anyone have any tips or tricks to get a mane to lie flat on the correct side.

So far I've already tried plaiting and leaving them in but as soon as they were taken out it went back to being everywhere.

I've also tried human hair gel/spray and other human hair things.

The only thing that seems to be working a bit is a rake but it seems to be making the hair at the root look very short and sticky uppy

If anyone has any ideas that would be great thanks.

No tips apart from the ones you have tried with plating and leaving in for ages damping every time I get a chance.

I've tried this countless times - I take out the plaits, comb it through and wait 24 hours before it all goes back to the other side again, usually even before the wrinkles have dropped out! These days I just leave it where it is and argue that there's no such thing as a right or wrong side to anyone who dares say anything!

Welcome to the club. My new horses mane sticks up in the air! Have tried everything, plaiting, banding, neck covers, but always resorts to its feral ways! I now wet it and band it before pulling as it's the only way I can get it to lie on the right to pull it.. It always sticks up again but it does plait reasonably well. Good luck, let us know if you find a way to train it!

There are 2 things you can do in my experience, leave it where it prefers to fall but make sure you when you pull it that it is ok so if / when you plait it you can do so on the "correct side". If it would suit the type of horse hog him as that will sort the problem out!

I have this problem but mine lays both sides. I use a rake too and you must rake out from underneath. So if you want the mane to lay on the right brush it all over to the left side and rake out then brush back over to the right side. It makes a big difference. I am plaiting on the right but haven't managed to get it all to stay over yet. It is getting better the more I do though. If it doesn't work I will have to settle for a horse with a double sided mane!

My horses mane lies in the 'wrong' side but it's never an issue as I just plait it to the other side for showing. The onl way I could see it being an issue is if u show in m&m classes where the mane isn't plaited?
