I was doing some digging on these as an alternative to a lorry or Equitrek. There is an advert for sales agents on their website. Basically offers 10% discount if you will show people the trailer, free upgrade, commission. Interesting I thought. However, further digging and it turns out the BBC has investigated this (series called X-ray). 2 people are reported on whom also thought this would be a good idea. Paid the deposit (1/2 the trailer value) and 6 months later are still waiting. Turns out once you are an agent, you are no longer protected under UK consumer law. 1 woman has taken out a CCJ but advised that as the company is Spanish, this is largely irrelevant and her money is delayed due to cash flow issues. What a shame. These trailers looked lovely.

Yes they cannot sell them within the EU as they never got the CE approval which is why you cannot get wessex trailers anymore! Unless they have rectified that recently.

There was a thread on here about them a while back that wasn't positive, can't find it now, it may have been deleted. According to Keynote, Titan currently have £13521k of CCJs against them.

In the interests of balance, I also checked Ifor Williams, they have no CCJs, neither do Equitrek, nor do Batesons.

Yes, be very, very careful. IIRC, there were 2 separate ladies who posted on here who had paid half, & received nothing in return but a string of excuses. I'm sure others will correct me if I've mis-remembered. I think that the gist is that they are v plausible & pleasant, until they have your money, at which point all bets are off.

Don't take this as gospel tho - do your own digging and keep your money safe.

Hi Lucie, I wish this thread had existed before I started looking to buy with Titan Horse Trailers as despite all the digging and research I did, I'm currently close to £6000 worse off when you add the amount of my deposit still with Titan Horse Trailers and all the subsequent legal fees etc.

In March 2015 I ordered a standard trailer from Titan Horse Trailers and was promised my trailer by May 2015. I was encouraged to sign up as an Agent to promote their trailers for an additional 10% off my final bill.

May 2015 arrived and there was no sign of the trailer which they said would take more weeks to build as they were having problems with their manufacturers. I therefore asked Titan to cancel my order and return my deposit (just over £5000) which they agreed to in June 2015.

When my money still hadn't been refunded later that year I successfully applied for and was granted a CCJ against Titan Horse Trailers in the UK. I put in the application to enforce the order and send in the baliffs only to discover that they couldn't attend the address as it was a 'posting address' 83 Ducie Street, Manchester (try google mapping it). I was then told by Titan Horse Trailers that my order was not with their UK company (which they have now dissolved - see the information available on Companies House) but with their Spanish company.

I have now successfully been granted a European Payment Order against Titan Horse Trailers in Spain instead of the CCJ against their UK company. It works in roughly the same way (more information is available on direct.gov website).

Sadly though, I have still not received my money back. Titan Horse Trailers say that they have to sell the trailer I ordered before they can give me my money back. This is why I am reluctant to speak out online because they say that by telling other people about this they won't be able to sell my trailer and therefore they won't be able to refund me.

However, I have not heard from them in months now, despite emails to check on the status of the refund and sadly, when I last wrote on this forum they did two things:
1. Got their Solicitor to write to me claiming defamation (although everything above is factual)
2. Got the threads removed from online so that no one can read about it

This is why we were so grateful to BBC X-Ray for investigating this as they confirmed all our story and spoke with Titan themselves (you can still see the programme here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b06qnhlk or search BBC X-Ray Titan on google).

As you can see from the programme I'm sadly not the only one this has happened to. There are other people in the same boat, including June who you see in the show. The saddest difference between my experience and theirs is that they have paid larger deposits and they ordered their trailers before me with Titan's UK company (which is now dissolved).

With every month that passes I get more and more resigned to not seeing our money ever again which was the entire winter's wage for my husband working flat out on a racing yard as a groom.

So, if anyone else is in the same position having ordered a trailer from Titan Horse Trailers, please do get in contact. And if anyone has any advice on how to proceed please let me know!

I've had two tries at buying a Titan horse trailer. I saw an agent's carriage driving trailer and ordered one. I paid half up front as a deposit, the rest to be paid before delivery, expected delivery 10 to 12 weeks, this was still the English company with trailers being made in Spain.
After 10 weeks I got in touch with them to ask when they wanted the rest of the deposit to be told that there were delays in Spain. More delays followed, after 6 months they told me that they would not be building my trailer, nor would they be making that model any more, it had a rounded fibre glass front which I particularly liked and wanted. They returned my deposit very promptly.

I was in touch with the agent who's CD trailer I'd seen and knew that she would expect to have it replaced with a new one after two years, so Titan Horse Trailers would have it for sale, I told them that I would be interested in buying it from them. They agreed, saying that they would need to build the new replacement trailer for the agent. The CD trailer was to be serviced, have a couple of updates, things like non slip slats on the ramp which they now put on new trailers, and I wanted an awning and a reversing/internal camera fitted. We agreed a contract for this, which was with the company now registered in Spain, and I paid half the sum as a deposit, they did give me a bit of a discount because of the earlier cancellation.
I tried to pay the £4,167.45 online, using my husband's Barclaycard (with his agreement) but their system wouldn't accept it. After a week of trying I managed to pay £500 online, with the credit card, and had to pay the rest by transfer from my building society account.
The agent then decided to take a job abroad so sold her driving ponies etc and resigned as a Titan Horse Trailer agent. This cancelled her contract with them to replace her CD trailer with a new one. They cancelled their contract with me to sell me her CD trailer and said they would return my deposit, they sent me two credit vouchers for the two amounts I'd paid.
And that was it. I had several promises that I would be paid. Then an email to say that their bank had told them that they hadn't got the cash to give me a refund and would need to build a trailer to sell in order to get some cash in.
I contacted them a couple of times to say that I would be taking action to get my money back, no response.

I took advice from a solicitor and made a claim from Barclaycard.
Under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act, your credit card company is jointly liable if something goes wrong with a product or a service you've paid for by credit card, and this includes paying part of a deposit for a product or service by credit card.

I contacted Barclaycard who sent me a form to fill in, I returned the competed form plus a 19 page file of all that had happened, copies of the contract and emails to and from Titan Horse Trailers etc.
And, eventually, after my building society had tried to recall the money and failed, we were refunded the whole amount by Barclaycard; my undying gratitude to Barclaycard and Section 75.
BE AWARE THAT ONLY THE FIRST NAMED CREDIT CARD HOLDER HAS THIS PROTECTION.
I'm a second named holder, as it were, on my husband's card and I don't have the same cover, which was why I used his card. We were buying the trailer together but it was all in my name because I did all the contact with the company by email. And I used his credit card because I'm not a very trusting person and want whatever protection is going.
I regard myself as very very fortunate to have got my money back.

And I did get my trailer, I bought it direct from the ex agent, and it is a super trailer.
