Would you be let/like someone who just wanted to come and give your oldie a little bit of TLC (no riding, just grooming cuddles etc.) maybe a couple of times a week?
Do you feel you have enough time for your retired friend?

I think that is a lovely idea. I think a lot of retired horses would benefit from a bit of extra attention, especially for owners who have other horses to see to.
I see you lost Guards Robert, was he a Fell?

Its just an idea I'm thinking about, its been 18 months since Robert went (yes he was a Fell, a very good WHP fell in his time, not that I'm bias! ;) ) and i'm missing having a "friend" and before I put up ads locally I thought I would see if people thought it would be of a benifit.

Just looked him up in the FPS newsletters, he sounded quite a character!:D I knew of a Guards Joseph who did well in endurance.

I think it would be a really good thing for retired horses to have a bit of tlc and wish you luck in getting a good response. There is a retired horse here who would thrive on it, but sadly we are too far away from you.

I used to have an older lady - friend of my mum's - who would come down and fuss over Monty once a week when I was out with Zoom in the lorry. It was nice for him to have some attention when I was away. He loved it!

I think it's a lovely idea :)

That really is a great idea, for your horse and the lucky person who would get the chance to do this, there are people who do not want to ride but just to be around a horse is enough for them, so you would have a very happy person and sure your horse would love it as well :)

My old boy, who passed away in May, was an ex-Police horse, and even at 33 years old he still had a lot of presence about him. His field ran alongside a public footpath, and one day I was bringing him in, and a lady spoke to me and said how she says hello to my horse most days. I told her about his past, and she too was a retired police officer, so after that I told her she would be welcome to visit him at the yard if she liked, and she used to come in regularly to visit him after that. It was very sweet.

Thanks for the replies.
I had thought about home of rest for horses at speen, but just a little further than I'd like, ideally would need someone nearer Aylesbury. But if I dont have any luck locally may see if I would be of help at HFRH maybe a couple of times a month.
