I have the chance to buy a 15.2hh 8yr old bright bay mare been out of work for 18months as bred a foal not sure what breed she is but lw/mw sport horse type, has potential (although I havent seen her yet) I would be buying to sell on and seller wants £400 for her, could possibly get her down abit more as theyre in a hurry to sell and its not vaccinated, I already have 3 horses but have room for another, My only worry is that I wouldnt be able to sell in this climate and i wouldnt want the horse for next winter i'd be looking to sell it july/august time. Id hopefully bring it back into work and do abit of rc unaffilliated competitions, opinions please :)

There is always a market for sane, well schooled horses and size wise she's in a good bracket for both teenagers and adults.

Would depend on her conformation, general temperament and the like as to whether you should buy her or not. If you like her and have time for her then why not? Better she has a chance with someone like you to bring her on than the owner panics about not selling her and puts her through the sales or something.

Whatever price you pay for her, £400 or less is not a lot of money so I don't see how you could lose really unless she has some major mental, physical or behavioural issues.

The other thing I'd want to know from the seller is why she was bred from and not kept as a ridden horse. Just to see what reason they give.

I know the seller (not v.well) she takes in horses that people no longer have time for/cant afford, sort of like a rescue, she was in foal when she arrived with her. I think the mare has a few trust issues but seems pretty genuine. Im going to go and see her on thursday

Buy if she's a nice sort- you're unlikely to lose, if you keep the turnover time relatively short. I recently bought a very similar horse for similar money and she's shaping up nicely
