I may clip my mare this next week as it's so hot and she sweats up.

She's out at night and in during the day then ridden before going out for the night. I am though just a happy hacker and she's a SFx and not a cob type. She is fit though and we do seem clock up quite a few miles so I do find that I often have to hose her off.

Shes always felt the heat, she becomes very quickly uncomfortable in it and is the first fine horse to go rugless on our yard.

I clip in the winter(full). Should I clip now and indeed would it be wise too? I ask because I would rather not to have to rug her at night if possible.

Who clips in the Summer and why?

Yes I clip all year round if the horse requires it and I don't buy into old wives tails of it ruining a summer coat! My mantra is clip according to the horse not according to the calendar!!! I do rug if required though....even if only a light sheet!

I clipped my mare yesterday as she was getting too hot - She is out at night and not rugged, but will be if the temps drop significantly.

clipped mine about 6 weeks ago as she was getting very hot and sweaty, i only hack as well, she is much more comfortable now but i did rug her at first. took the rug off while the weather was very warm but put lightweight on today as cold and windy. she is still in at night...
