Interested to get views on whether to have my boy clipped this year. He lives out - has just got his wonderful Rambo Turnout Exel rug (HW) and not sure whether to get him clipped now as he gets a little sweaty when we go out. He is a 17.3 Irish Draft and coming up to about 18 years old. We only do light hacking 1-2 times a week, but I don't want him to catch a chill. Any tips very welcome. Thanks!

I would give him a chase clip - if it does go really cold you can always slip a fleece under his wonderful Rambo Exel rug (do you have the neck attachment?)!!!!!!!!!

Yes I do have the neck attachment - I also have a spare large neck attachment if anyone is interested (might save my ebay fees - BNIB!!).

I am negotiating a stable for him at the moment as am feeling guilty about leaving him in the cold and mud, though he has lovely tree cover and is in a valley so it is quite sheltered. I think it is just because he looks so sad when I leave him at night that I am beginning to wonder if a clip is necessary and whether it is about time he started shacking up in the warm at night, after all he is quite an old man now, although I have only had him for a year and he lived out where he was before.

Thanks for all of your advice!
