Wondering whether to clip Chico or not.

Basically I rode him today for 30 minutes and he got quite sweaty on his neck and under her saddle.

However....

In about 3-4 weeks time he will be having his sarcoid treatment and will be off work for approx 6 weeks.

So What would you do??:confused:

i would do a low trace clip if you are going to ride most days and take a bit more off if he is still getting sweaty, but if you only ride once or twice a week i would leave him as he is. as long as he is carrying enough weight you could prob leave him without a rug . hope this helps a bit....:D

I aim to ride once a day but often it is more like 5 times a week (for upto half an hour on weekdays or sometimes 40 minutes jumping at weekends)

Personally, if its not too much hassle to get him clipped, id go for maybe a chaser clip or something similar? just to make it easier and more comfortable until the treatment (which, btw, i hope goes well!) that way it will help during the riding but wont be so severe when it comes to his time off

:)

I wouldnt clip if he is going to have sarcoid treatment - not much point really as he will just get cold ( obviously:)) and then you will have to feed extra to keep warm. IMO i would not clip him but obviously after being ridden let him cool down before he gets turned out. Just my opinion though :)

Sorry, forgot to say hope treatment goes well, my mare had the liverpool cream this time last year for a fibroplastic(sp??) sarcoid and very successful nothing there at all now x
