Hunting. Beanie had a full day out on saturday. Both horse and daughter loved it. But... Beanie now has a sore mouth, sore back and will not eat due to not settling down. We had eating issues when I took her cubbing a few weeks ago but nothing like this. Is it all worth it when she is clearly mixed up afterwards??????

I would say no, from what you have said I do not think thats fair.

Horses are like people in that they are good at some things and not good at others, simple, it sounds like your horse may well not be cut out for this
 
Did the Beanie enjoy it and behave?? If so that is the main thing. Sore mouth and back easily sorted. One our hunters won't eat afterwards if in the stable, so quite simply he lives out. When back from hunting he is checked over, rugged up and put out. Then he unwinds, has a roll and later on has his tea. He may not always eat up that night but usually eats breakfast so I am not too worried. If Beanie is a good hunter and that's what you want to do then just do it and work around the rest.....and find out whats suit him best.
 
Ditchjumper. Yes from what we know she does enjoy it. She came from Ireland as a 4yr old and we have had her ever since. She does get very excited and will not stand still when they have too but on the move she is fine, but reeeeeaaaly strong! It is the aftermath that is worrying me.I dont want to take her fun away but also dont want her to be b******d up after each time she goes.

I guess it depends how long it takes her to settle. How many times has she hunted this season? Is it a case of the more she does the better she gets or haven't you taken more than a couple of times? If she just leaves her tea then no real worry but if she won't eat for days then that is different. I know some horse just keep "hunting in their head" for days and then get really tucked up.

If you haven't had her out much I would persevere for a while at least and try and find a system that suits her. It would be worth the effort it if hunting is what you want to do with her. I would give it a go rather than give up on the strength of a couple of bad days. Good luck.
