Am contemplating hogging tomorrow whilst clipping . Mane has always been a disaster and just had a thought might be best to try and start again. Any one had luck with the same or should I try and salvage and make do!
If you want to hog it and then grow it back, I wouldn't. It takes ages to grow a new decent mane. I bought a Clydesdale mare who had been hogged and it must have been about 2 yrs before her mane truly recovered. The flue brush stage is horrible.
Depends on how coarse the hair is. I used to hog my thoroughbred and his was really soft, sort of paintbrush, rather than scrubbing brush. It grew out in less than a year.
