To move or not to move that is the question?

Ok, I bet you guys hate thes posts but I find its easier to make desisions when outsiders give you their point of view.
New little orange mare has been with me for nearly 5 weeks. Shes a lovely little thing but really hasnt settled properly. I am wondering if its the yard that causes this uneasyness and whether I should move.
Yard goodpoints- Daily turnout whatever the weather
Amazing hacking- for miles (bridleways link to 26miles with very little roadwork + rides in Hatfield forest)
Lovely box with bars between stables so horses can see each other.
I'm the only one who schools so the floodlit menage is all mine!

Not so good things- Only 3 other horses at the yard and only one of those is ever really ridden so hardly anyone to hack out with (one of the reasons why I dont have horsey at home!)
Mare really does not like being on the yard on her own as its far from the fields and you cant see the other horses from the yard (She poops constantly and fidgets constantly when on her own on the yard).
Because yard is so small the horses do everything together, and I feel that Mare is getting too attatched to the other boys.
I feel inadequate because I'm at least 14 years younger than the other three owners- who also keep imparting their opinions and 'help'

Do you think I should stick with it and eventually she will settle? or do you think its worth moving now to see if she will settle somewhere busier/with more horses etc - or is that unfair to move her now?

Mine was very much like that at my previous place, I thought she would be better at a quiet yard. But she even got attached to the mare across the road, escaped one morning and took herself to see the mare across the road!

Have moved to a busier yard now and she is MUCH better, I can bring her in when there is no one else stabled in her block, with no hassle now.

Its a shame as where you are now sounds really good, but they are such hard work when they get so attached to fieldmates.

Well if you don't like the yard because you're by yourself then that's different. As far as it goes for your mare it seems an ideal set up. She's probably still not settled, and as far as getting worked up when being brought in by herself, I am very much on the "leave her be and let her get on with it" camp. She'll get used to it in the end. If that's the only problem (and lets face it it's not many minutes out of the day) then I would stay put. But if you're not happy then that's different.

I think may be you should move... I have my own place but moved to a small nice yard so i can hack out with other people from time to time and some company for me. my mare settled fine (better than i thought). you can only but try!! I think you have made your mind up already...keep us all posted xx good luck
