I sometimes think of the enormous fences I jumped when my blood was up and hounds were screaming.
It was as though I got a high from scaring myself!
Jumping an iron or timber gate at a near gallop sounds quite mad,but woosh goes the adrenaline and on to the next fence.
Every horse was different and they all had their gifts but I have to say that a little mare at the Eridge,15 2 ,was awesome!
I found myself with hounds on my own at 3-30pm in November '80 as scent improved and I litterally jumped whatever came my way-iron and wooden gates, hedges on and off roads with wire on top,at the back and in front.
That hunt till dusk would have been any hunting persons dream ride.
I was so lucky to have had the nerve to go for it on some fantastic horses!
