I've let Henry get woolly this winter but it's not really cold and I'm sooo tempted to shave it all off and give him a number one all over! He looks so sleek and smart when he's clipped and his wool seems to make him smellier. I just have this sinking feeling that the second I fire up the clippers the temperature will drop to 50 below and he'll be frozen solid! Help me decide what to do please:D

Why do we clip horses in the winter?
So they can be dried off quickly and get warm sooner. The same applies to dogs. If he is not expected to stand around outside then by all means clip him.

He has got his coat now anyway although it has no fill, it's just to keep the wet off him.

I don't know why it bothers me, I had him clipped for the last two winters and it was much colder:o

I am about to re clip flodden, have left him untrimmed for a month and am having to spend ages removing haylage, bedding and all sorts of things from his furry legs! I say clip him, I am sure you have a wardrobe of outfits you can put him in to complete his embarassment. Flodden will be sporting Poppies ex jaunty little purple Equafleece jumper from Sunday onwards if it gets chilly

THIS!

Shave it down, you'll both be happier for it.

Long wet hair clinging to the legs is like being wrapped in wet clothing all day.
