Atm I have only my very old, worn-out childhood pony who is at least 25 (though probably much older). We've been at the same yeard for the last 6 years and it's been great until recently - I had the place to myself. YO has taken a load of new liveries recently which I can't blame him for, but they do tend to help themselves to everything and it's a bit annoying, particularly when it's things like expensive fly spray and feed! Also the place is now overrun with horses and my little one, usually the top of the pile, seems to be suffering. She's lost a lot of weight and is looking generally old, but she also seems to hate being around the other ponies now. She can't wait for me to catch her and bring her in, and seems restless and jumpy - she was never like this before. Her lifelong companion was PTS two years ago and she bonded with YO's mini, but then she had to be PTS too. Mine seems a bit lost at sea now.

We've just bought a cottage which may have grazing to rent. I was hoping to move her there when I buy myself a new riding horse, perhaps early next year. For various reasons I can't really commit to a "proper" horse until then. But she looks so unhappy I am wondering if it might be better to move her now. She'll have to live alone for a while, and I've always been fiercely anti-lone-horse, but is that less cruel than leaving her somewhere she seems unhappy?

I moved her into a different paddock today with just two others, so she may settle, but what with that and the other liveries being a bit of a pain, I'm wondering if we should leave sooner rather than later... what would you do?
